I Love Piercings

I have a total of 7 piercings, 4 on my left ear and 3 on my right.

It all started during my first year at Cal when both my roommates decided to get an industrial piercing at the beginning of the semester. I was so amazed and jumped the bandwagon myself. Initially, I was going to get an industrial as well, but my boyfriend talked me out of it and I opted for doubles on my earlobe and one halfway helix on my right ear. And that's when I got addicted.

Two months ago in March, I took some girls from my sorority and we all went to get pierced. I don't know where I got the sudden burst of courage, but I had both my conch and another helix done.

I've heard about the conch being the most painful, but it honestly didn't hurt as much as I had expected it to. It was like *boop* and then it was all over. The helix, on the other hand, felt like someone took a screw and pushed it through my ear!!! Since the piercer didn't let me prepare myself for it (taking a deep breath and letting it out while the needle went through), she charged me for half instead. She also said that since I brought in so many girls, if I bring in another 5, I can get my next (and last) piercing for free!

My left ear (my right ear isn't as exciting, so I won't put it up).

My conch is healing up quite nicely and most of the time I don't even notice the helix.

When I start school again, I'm going to get my tragus (my favorite!) done on my right ear and then no more.

What do my parents think? I don't think my dad is aware of them and my mom thinks I'm crazy, haha. She doesn't like them, but there's nothing she can do about it since I attend college so far away.

Getting my conch done (one of my pledge bros cringed when he watched, haha)

On a final note, piercings are expensive and require good maintenance! At Industrial Tattoos in Berkeley, one earring costs $30 and labor is $15 for each piercing. You get the best sanitary conditions and piercings with years of experience so it's worth the extra dollar, as opposed to going to a cheapo place like Claire's and getting it done with a gun, which is BAD!!!

Happy piercing! :D
